A Neutral and Rustic Thanksgiving Table Setting

I dream of beautiful tablescapes…I know it may sound strange, but there is something about setting a table for friends and family to gather around that makes me incredibly happy. As we approach the holidays, my imagination goes into overdrive and I start thinking of creative and new ways to set my table for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year I wanted to create a neutral but rustic table setting that would work either indoors or outside, so I gathered some of my favorite copper pieces and mixed them with some of my favorite rustic pieces. The result is a casual tablescape that is rustic, romantic and elegant. A winning combination in my book.

I love the idea of mixing what would traditionally be used indoors in an outdoor setting.

For this table I brought out my dining room chairs and a bench from my living room to add a touch of elegance to what might otherwise be a very rustic look.

I decided not to worry too much about having a perfectly pressed table cloth. In fact I purposely draped it down the center of the table leaving it a bit wrinkled and casual.

I’ve often mentioned that flowers are almost always the inspiration for my table settings and this time was no different. I wanted to use flowers I could easily find at my local grocery store, so I chose some seeded eucalyptus, cream roses and white lisianthus.

I also added in some greens and flowers I picked from my garden. I used a vintage, oval copper pot as my container and I love how the warm copper contrasts with the color of the flowers. I placed the centerpiece on a dark wood bread board and sprinkled a few mini white pumpkins and votive candles around it. Such a subtle way to say Thanksgiving and still keep it neutral.

If you have read any of my recent posts about fall decorating, it is pretty obvious that I am a bit obsessed with copper for fall.

New and vintage, tarnished and shiny, I love how it warms up any tablescape. One new addition to my Thanksgiving table are these copper candlesticks.

I have only ever had silver candlesticks, but these are definitely going to be making an appearance on many future holiday tables. And by the way, don’t they look great next to my all time favorite, rustic lanterns?

For my place settings, I wanted to add a touch of copper so I used rustic chargers topped with my favorite gray and cream plates and a simple gray napkin with a soft lace edge.

I also included a casual, gold rimmed glass and my favorite new addition, this copper flatware. I just adore the rustic design of this collection and think that it is the perfect touch for a Thanksgiving table.

As a special touch, I placed a paper and twine wrapped bread roll on each place with a “Give Thanks” tag attached. I love how seasonal this looks.

Perhaps my favorite part of this table setting is that it is versatile and would work in any season. Change the pumpkins to metallic ornaments and this would be a beautiful holiday table as well.
