A Soft Pastel Fall Table Setting

It turns out that any table can feel like fall, even one with soft pastel elements. I started with my favorite light gray table runner, which is, in fact, a long length of cloth with the edges turned under. (shhh…don’t tell!) Since I was committed to pink, I decided to use soft pastels for a garland of fresh flowers. I got some soft pink roses at the market along with a couple of bunches of eucalyptus.I created a runner of eucalyptus as my base and then tucked the roses in along the length of the table. NOTE: I used water tubes for my roses to keep them fresh. They easily tuck under the eucalyptus so you can’t see them. I also tucked a few heads of kale along the garland along with some sprigs of protea (at least that’s what I was told the delicate pick flowers are called).If it was a little bit later in the season, I would have used my favorite, fresh mini white pumpkins, but they have not appeared in my market yet, so I got out my trusty faux white pumpkins along with a couple of soft green ones and they worked perfectly! Suddenly it was fall!!For the place settings, I layered a shiny silver charger with my favorite cream and gray plates and a charcoal gray napkin on top. I added one protea bloom to each place for an extra pop of pink.The pink champagne glasses added the perfect touch of soft color to the overall look and made the table feel just a little bit more special. They also added a bit of height without blocking the guests view, which is always a good thing!Creating this soft pastel palette for a fall table was a great reminder for me to look beyond the obvious and think outside the box. What might traditionally be considered a spring color palette can easily work in fall with the addition of a few obvious fall elements, like pumpkins.I have no doubt these soft pink champagne glasses will be making an appearance in many future table settings.
