I think this year requires a bit of warmth and coziness for the holidays, so I focused on creating a look in my dining room that that felt inviting with a twinkle and warm glow. I used some new elements and a few old standards to pull everything together and am so pleased with the overall look. Today I am sharing some cozy Christmas dining room decorating ideas that are beautiful and easy to achieve.

My goal was to create a warm glow throughout the dining room, so I started with a tree in the corner. I decorated it with some simple ornaments and kept it simple to add a bit of glow to the corner.

On the dining table, I used a favorite knit table runner to add that warm winter feel.

Sadly, I got this runner two years ago and have not been able to find it since.

I topped the runner with a super realistic faux Norfolk pine garland from Afloral. This is the most realistic looking garland I have ever seen!

I tucked some gold bay leaves and mini plantinum pinecones into the garland to add some sparkle and shine. I also included a sprinkling of natural pinecones throughout to keep the look a bit rustic.

And because I wanted to make sure the warm glow extended to our table, I put a beautiful antique gold lantern in the center and warm gold candlesticks along the length of the garland.

I kept the place setting simple with an inexpensive gold charger and pretty basket weave plates, finished with soft white linen napkins and vintage wine glasses.

A few weeks ago, I got a fun over the table rod that got my creative juices flowing, so I brought it into the dining room and wrapped it with lights and garland. I love the way this came together to add an unexpected element over the side table in the dining room.

On the table I added additional glow with two candle filled lanterns. I filled a dough bowl with some winter greenery and pinecones and brought an oversized cloche in…just because.

With all of the lights on and the candles lit the dining room had that warm and cozy feel that I wanted to create.

I love that all of this decor can stay in my dining room for an extended time through the holiday season. I can easily swap out the place settings for any meal and our family can enjoy a cozy christmas dining room every day.

I hope this gives you some Christmas dining room decorating ideas to create a warm and cozy space to enjoy the season. I’m off to add a bit of Christmas cheer to the kitchen and family room. Stay tuned for those details coming soon!

  1. Love it,my question is where do you put the serving dishes bowls etc when you have a large centerpiece, I always end up taking half of my centerpiece away at dinner time ?

    1. Hey Wendy! Sorry for the delay in responding! I often serve dinner “buffet style” in the kitchen or on a side table, just for this reason.
