A Tour Of Our Montana Ranch Plus My Summer Shopping Guide

| |

This week marks a big transition for my family.  We will close up our home in California for the summer and head up to our ranch in Montana for three months. It is always an exciting time as we wrap up the school year, decide what we will take with us for the summer and prepare for a completely different pace of life in the Montana woods.

This it the barn we converted into a guest house.

One of the things I enjoy the most about our time in Montana is the time we spend outdoors…hiking, having picnics by the pond, rocking on the porch and eating dinner by the creek.  I am always imagining new ways to enjoy our time with friends and family in the great outdoors.

With this in mind, I’ve been doing a bit of online shopping so I figured I’d  put together a Summer Favorites Shopping Guide for you guys!  I’m also sharing a few photos of the ranch from last summer so you can get an idea of where we are headed and  what life looks like there…can’t wait to share all of the beauty and adventures with you guys this summer!

This is the farmhouse with a huge wrap around porch.  We spend hours here rocking, eating and visiting with friends and family. On the other side of the house is the creek and fire pit.  I need some new dining furniture for this porch and am loving the set below!

Our house is surrounded by woods, so we often venture into areas off the beaten path for dinner.  We bring our solar lights and they work just great!  You can get more details about our picnic in the woods by clicking {HERE}.

This is one of our guest cabins that sits in the woods.  As you can see, I LOVE rocking chairs and have them on every porch!

We sit on our porch for dinner nearly every night in the summer months.  The creek sits right below the porch so the sound is lovely and soothing. We are lucky that it is not too hot or buggy and we often get the thrill of a passing thunder and lighting storm in the early evenings.  It is an idyllic spot!

My husband has carved out little nooks and quiet spaces throughout the ranch where we have put benches and hammocks.  My favorite thing is to find a guest reading a book or napping in one of these spots while the slow days of summer pass by.

These sweet guys travel with us to the ranch each year.  They are so happy to be in the long grass and have space to roam.  This corral overlooks my vegetable garden and they are often curious about what I’m up to when I am planting or watering.

This porch swing is an absolute favorite for everyone at the ranch.  There’s something about swinging that makes everyone feel calm and relaxed.

In all honesty, not much is required to enjoy the beauty of this place.  I could throw a blanket on the grass and read a good book and be perfectly content.  Nonetheless, there are a few things I am looking forward to adding to the ranch this year and I can’t wait to share them with you all!
