A Simple and Elegant Thanksgiving Table

I have to confess…I am always looking for an excuse to set a beautiful table, so when Thanksgiving is on the horizon, I get excited! The great thing about this blog is that I get to experiment with fall table settings several times throughout the season and share them with you. This week I was inspired by some beautiful flowers I saw at the flower mart, so I set an elegant Thanksgiving table using some of my favorite dishes and vintage pieces.

I usually prefer a very neutral color palette for fall, without too many bold colors, but when I saw the gorgeous burgundy tones of the dalias and the dark centers of the anemones at the flower mart I was inspired to set a more dramatic fall tablescape.

Flowers are almost always the starting place for my table settings. I wanted an elegant table with a bit of a vintage feel, so I decided to use a silver “trophy” style vase for my main centerpiece. I used eucalyptus and maple leaves for my “greenery” and then added in the dalias. anemone and some white protea.

Because I was setting a long Thanksgiving table, I wanted to extend the flowers along the length, so I also made two smaller arrangements in pretty mercury glass vessels.

I was trying to achieve an elegant but simple look, so I used a long piece of gray toile linen as a table runner. The black pattern picked up the tones of the anenomes and the gray background worked well with my dining room colors. Win-Win!

For my place settings, I used a classic silver charger and my new favorite POTTERY BARN dishes. I also used some vintage flatware I recently found at a local shop. I was super excited to find this set and love the way it adds a vintage feel to the place setting.

I love the drama that the black napkins add to this Thanksgiving table, and with the addition of a simple protea bloom, it is just the right amount of elegance and simplicity.

I had originally planned to use white candlesticks for this table setting, but they didn’t add the drama I was looking for, so I decided to use a deep, wine color instead. I love the way it extends the color down the length of the table.

I also used some black and cream plaid pillows on my larger end chairs for a more seasonal look.

The final touch to complete my elegant, yet simple Thanksgiving table was the addition of a few clusters of mini white pumpkins. I think this is such a simple way to add a seasonal touch without going overboard.
