Rustic Copper and Gold Christmas Decorating

When it comes to Christmas decor, my motto is the cozier the better! Because we live in a warmer climate, I think I appreciate the opportunity to have a fire in the fireplace and snuggle in with my family on the days that are cold enough to enjoy the warmth. This year I decided to make our family room extra cozy with chunky knit elements mixed with soft copper and gold tones throughout. Today I’m sharing some rustic copper and gold Christmas decorating ideas with you that are simple and easy to incorporate into your holiday decor.

This year I decided to use only ornaments and decor that I already owned, but to mix them in new and different ways. I mixed copper, and gold elements with a few silver accents on the tree in our family room for a rustic and warm look.

Gold ribbon helped to tie the colors together. And chunky knit blankets wrapped around the tree base add a cozy look.

I also added a few matte white ornaments to the tree to coordinate with the color of the stocking and tree skirt.

I finished with a few faux branches and mini pinecone sprigs to add some extra texture and color.

I kept the rest of the decor in our family room very minimal. A couple of oversized lanterns and a dough bowl filled with faux pine branches, sitting on the long console table next to the tree.

I also hung an oversized wreath on the leaded glass window above the table for an extra pop of holiday color.

I tucked a length of fresh cedar garland on the mantel above the fireplace and added a few sprigs of faux gold greenery as well as a large gold pinecone ornament.

I added a couple strands of gold bells below the garland and hung the stockings on either side of the firebox.

On the hearth, I used a large copper pot to hold birchwood logs and put a couple of faux cedar trees and a small copper bucket for ashes. I used oversized knit pillows and more cozy knit blankets on the leather armchairs.

On the coffee table, I used a simple faux garland and a gold lantern to add some seasonal flair.

I love the warm and cozy feel that just these few gold and copper elements create in our family room.

I’ve spent many cold mornings and evenings snuggled up in this room, by the Christmas tree, enjoying the warm glow of the fire and taking in the joy of the season.
