VIDEO: How to Make a Foraged Fall Wreath

| |

With all of the beautiful fall colors starting to appear outdoors, I naturally look at what is available in my yard to create some fall decor for my home. Today I’m sharing a short video showing how to make a fall wreath in just 5 minutes using foraged elements from my back yard.

You can also see step by step directions and an “ingredient list” below.

FORAGED FALL WREATH INGREDIENTS

I found all of the ingredients for this wreath (besides the grapevine base) by walking around my yard and neighborhood and looking closely at what was growing. The oak branches came from trees in our yard. the greenery came from my garden and the dried pods were on a tree that had recently flowered. It is amazing how many different options are available right where you live!

  • 1 – Grapevine Wreath
  • 5-6 Fresh oak branches or other branches of your choice
  • 7-10 Dried or preserved oak branches in a contrasting color
  • 3-4 stems of greenery such as rosemary
  • 7-10 dried berries or pods

I began by adding the fresh oak leaves around the grapevine wreath in opposing directions. This created a “center” at the bottom of the wreath. I also made sure to leave a bit of the underlying wreath exposed at the top.

I added a few sprigs of the greenery for a little extra texture and color.

I tucked in contrasting dried oak leaves in and around the fresh leaves and greenery to fill in the open spaces.

I added the seeded pods to the lower half of the wreath allowing them to spill out beyond the edge.

It only took me 5 minutes to put this wreath together and it will last the whole season!

The fresh leaves dried beautifully and this pretty wreath now greets us on our back door!

I hope this gives you some ideas about how to make a fall wreath using foraged branches and greenery from your yard. Happy creating and have a beautiful day!
