I love lantern pendants!  Whether solo or in pairs, I think they are the epitome of classic farmhouse.  I used these lanterns above the island in our California kitchen as well as at our Montana ranch.  I considered several other options, but for me these had just the right combination of rustic and classic.  There are so many great lanterns available from slightly more streamlined to a bit more classic, so I’ve sourced several choices below.

My all time favorite light fixture is this iron chandelier over our breakfast table.  I am often asked where to find it, so I’ve included a source below for you guys.  I wanted to use something different for our new project, so I’m considering a couple of the options below.  I haven’t decided on a particular one yet…what do you think?

I am always debating about the larger chandeliers in our home.  Honestly we have played musical light fixtures for the past couple of years and I’m still not convinced we have it sorted out.  I am regularly looking for new options, so below are sources for our current fixtures as well as a few pieces I’m considering. (Unfortunately, our living room chandelier is no longer available, but I found some very similar looks)

  1. I’m really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your blog.
Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself?
Either way keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one nowadays.

  2. I love your kitchen ideas! I got a sample of the Restoration Hardware “FLINT” paint, and it looks BLACK. In your kitchen photo, it looks more blue/grey. Did I get the wrong paint? Thank you, Carolyn

    1. Hi Carolyn,
It is definitely Flint…It looks different in various lighting situations, so I recommend painting a sample on a board and looking at it in all light at different times of day! Good luck!

  3. Please share the range hood used from Modern- Aire. There are several flint hoods and quite a few shades. Also, the wood that was used around the edge. Thanks.

    1. Hi There-The range hood was custom made, so there is not a specific model I can point you to. If you contact Modern-Aire they will be able to help you with specifications. The wood was also custom painted. Sorry I can’t be more help. Have a great day!

  4. Love everything about the Houses. What range did you use in the California kitchen? Brand/size?

  5. I’d love to know more about your living room French doors. We are currently building and I sent the pic to our door vendor. Were they custom made?
