Fall Colors at Our Montana Ranch

| | | | |

Last week I spent an idyllic week at our ranch in Montana. I was supposed to be there closing up the house for the winter, but in the process of washing, storing and boxing up, I found myself taking in all of the fall beauty and trekking through the woods filled with fall colors. I had my camera with me and took a bunch of photos, so today, I thought I would share a little Fall tour of our Montana ranch.

As a native Southern California girl, I am always amazed at the beauty of a forest filled with fall colors. The driveway leading up to the main house cuts through tree-filled woods and is lined with towering pine trees and aspens that are the most stunning shades of yellow and orange.

As we cross the bridge over the creek, the full splendor of fall colors surrounding the house comes into view

The meadow in front of the main house is still bright green but the surrounding trees are starting to turn.

I love the warm tones of fall against the reclaimed barn wood that can be found in all of the guest cottages at the ranch.

The kitchen is definitely the heart of our home, even in the colder months. I could not help but gather some fall branches from the woods and put them in a vase on the center island.

Gathering around the breakfast nook table for a late breakfast or a cozy dinner is one of the things I enjoy the most. When laughter fills my kitchen my heart is happy!

This breakfast nook seats ten people comfortably and it is one of my favorite design elements in the kitchen.

I doesn’t take much to add fall colors to the house. The warm tones are such a lovely contrast against the blue fabric shades, don’t you think?

We had a few friends over for a casual dinner party one evening, so I took a minute to set a cozy fall table. I’ll share more details of this table with you next week, but here’s a little sneak peek!

One of my favorite spaces at the ranch is our new guest cottage, and the bedroom has such a warm, yummy feel, I had to include it in this fall tour!

The original barn, built in the 1890s, sits near the entrance to the ranch. We still use it for horse tack and a bit of storage.

I couldn’t resist filling an antique wheelbarrow with a pile of heirloom pumpkins!

While the weather was still warm enough, we enjoyed some beautiful moments rocking on the porch. Lucky for us, we missed the early winter storms that came through right before we arrived!

I wish there was a way to capture the sounds of the creek and the feel of the brisk fall air for you. It is truly magical.

I hope this gives you a little glimpse of the fall colors in Montana and that you enjoyed our little ranch tour!

Have a Beautiful Day!

  2. Thank you for the beautiful tour of your guest house. Do you know where I could purchase the bed? It is a dark blue or charcoal upholstered headboard and wood footboard.

    1. Hi Marianne-That bed is from Restoration Hardware a few years back. I’m not sure if it is still available…
